We are committed to ensuring a high-quality teacher preparation experience that combines theory with practical application. The Dreeben School of Education offers an opportunity to earn your degree and Texas Teacher Certification. Throughout our rigorous program, teacher education students develop their content and teaching skills, on our campus and in the schools.

UIW Teacher Network
We Support our UIW Teacher Graduates! The UIW Teacher Network was created in 2012 to provide graduates with high-quality support as they transition into the teaching profession. This program was designed with three main facets: induction support, professional development, and professional networking. The UIW Teacher Network also contributes to our greater educational community by providing professional development events open to all.
Accreditation
National Accreditation
The University of the Incarnate Word is a member in good standing of the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP), a national accrediting organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. The Teacher Education Program has been awarded full accreditation by AAQEP through December 31, 2028.
State Accreditation
The UIW Teacher Education Program prepares Texas certified teachers. Graduates of the UIW Teacher Education Program meet state licensure requirements established by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). The Dreeben School of Education was first accredited by the TEA in January 1973 and maintains state accreditation.
